Salsa clothing is an essential part of salsa dancing, especially for the women. You can't just go out salsa dancing in just anything. You need your salsa wear and accessories to be functional.

If you wear pants that are too tight, you will not be able to be go down to the floor to do some fancy shines.

If your top is too loose, you may not be able to do your dips without showing off your goods.

It also may not be a good idea to wear a hat because it may get in the way. So many problems can develop if you wear the wrong type of clothes.

So what clothes do you wear?

Casual Dress

If its casual, women can wear a nice top, jeans or a skirt, but remember to test the skirt so see if it flies up too high when you turn ! Men can also wear jeans and a button down or polo shirt.

When you dance, you can get really hot, so keep that in mind. If its winter, make sure you can shed down to something reasonable.

Warning! Never wear a turtle neck or sweater when you go dance. You'll be extremely hot. You'll find this out the first time you make this mistake. Don't say we didn't warn you !

Dress to Impress

If the dress code is dress to impress, women usually wear hot, yet elegant salsa dresses. Some still wear nice pants and a top. Men should wear dress pants or kackis, a nice short sleeve or long sleeve shirt. Shirts can remain untucked as they tend to untuck themselves later during the night.
